CONDEMNED
"Desecrate the Vile"
MH-LE007
Condemned
offers a strictly brutal death-grind assault, with digusting guttural
vocals, grinding blasts, and equally technical and crushing riffs.
Distinct song writing, worth comparing to Disgorge. You will not
hear a more devastating combination from any new band around.
Mastered by Colin Davis (Imperial Mastering studios), Guest vocals
by Levi (DISGORGE), Sam (PARASITIC) and Shawn (INSIDIOUS DECREPANCY).

REVIEWS:
Condemned
are a band from the ever growing brutal death metal scene
in California. It would seem they are one of the state’s
most promising young bands at this moment and they are causing
quite a storm throughout the international underground scene,
testament to this fact would be their signing to Lacerated
Enemy Records who showcase some of the best new talent that
death metal has to offer. This debut full length from the
band is a showcase of guttural, blasting death metal borrowing
a page or two from the book of their local pioneers in brutality:
Disgorge. However I wouldn’t go so far as saying they sound
exactly the same as the aforementioned, they have a more
straight forward approach to their writing… but they are
still young and have a great deal of potential. There are
enough tempo changes to keep the average fan interested
with a mixture of blasting and ultra heavy grooves combined
with chugging and tremolo picked riffs with some nice pinched
harmonics thrown in for good measure. The highlight of their
sound however would be the vocals of Angel (also a member
of Cephalotripsy along with Forrest, who is the drummer
for both bands). His vocal delivery is just disgusting,
some of the most brutal low-down gurgles around, reminiscent
of Matti Way spewing through Disgorge’s old material - perhaps
the greatest likeness between both bands. My only real problem
with this disc is that it seems too short, and could definitely
benefit from an extra couple of songs instead of the 9 minute
sample at the end, which seems to be there just to make
the disc closer to 30 minutes instead of a mere 20. This
album is definitely not for everyone and probably wouldn’t
get much playing time from fans who like something a bit
more technical or varied, but anyone who’s a fan of most
underground brutal death metal would definitely enjoy this
release, especially the track ‘Chapter Of Defilement’ which
features guest vocals from Shawn Whitaker (Insidious Decrepancy/
Viral Load), Sam Townsley (Parasitic) and Levi Fuselier
(Disgorge)! I suggest having a good listen to their Myspace
tracks for anyone who may intend on purchasing this, as
their music is an acquired taste… but personally I think
it tastes good!
